There's no place like New York City.
I know how that sounds. But stand in the middle of Times Square at midnight, with the whole city buzzing around you, and you start to understand why people keep saying it. I've been lucky to see New York as more than a visitor. I get to tell its stories through my work.
One of our first projects here had a small budget, tight deadlines and terrible weather. We were shooting a promo video for a new brand in SoHo, and everything that could go wrong did. Permits were late, gear broke, the script changed at the last minute. And somehow, in the middle of all that, we got the shot. Golden hour on the Williamsburg Bridge. A stranger laughing as they walked past. You can't plan those moments, and no studio gives you that kind of color and texture.
Every borough feels like its own planet. Harlem brownstones on a quiet morning, Bushwick on a Saturday night. The city keeps changing, and you have to keep up. We've shot fashion reels in the Meatpacking District, documentary pieces in the Bronx and personal projects in Central Park before anyone else was awake. Every place and every person adds something new.
What the city taught us
If I had to put it in one line: New York doesn't only give you stories, it turns you into a storyteller.
We learned to move fast, to find beauty in the rough spots and to chase light down alleys and up the sides of buildings. Nothing in New York is staged, and that's exactly what we try to capture.
The city has been more than a backdrop for us. It's been a collaborator. Listen closely and it hands you moments you could never script. Whether we're filming a commercial, telling a brand's story or taking someone's portrait, that's what we bring back to every project.
